The PAAD Study : Physical Activity and Alzheimer's Disease (Health/Exercise)

UNCG is offering a free 8-month exercise program for people who qualify to take part in aresearch study. Interested individuals must be between 50-65 years of age and have a family history ofAlzheimer’s disease. There will be over 30 vendors selling local, handmade, Jewelry, pottery, candles, body products, knit and crochet crafts and much much more! The Jamestown Public Library is participating with libraries all across the world in Game Day on November 16th, 2013 from 10am-1pm. Events will include: Hunger Games movie showing @ 10:05, an archery demonstration, cornhole toss, board games, free raffle ticket to win Catching Fire movie tickets, and local children's author Otis Farmer.

Chinese Ceramics from the Changsha Kilns (Exhibit)
Time: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: Museum of Anthropology, Wake Forest University

MOA’s new permanent exhibit provides an overview of the ceramics produced by families at the Changsha Kilns during the Tang Dynasty more than one thousand years ago. The exhibit puts Tang ceramics into their historical, geographic, and cultural context. The Tang Dynasty was a time of peace, prosperity, and acceptance in China, during which Changsha ceramics and other goods were traded to reach as far away as western Asia and Africa. The exhibit features more than 100 spectacular ceramic objects from the MOA’s Lam Collection. Open Tuesday to Saturday. Admission is free.

Life After Death: The Day of the Dead in Mexico (Exhibit)
Time: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: Museum of Anthropology, Wake Forest University

MOA’s annual exhibit includes new information with sections about the celebration’s history and its unique folk art. The centerpiece is a traditional Mexican ofrenda: a home altar with sugar skulls, colorful tissue paper cutouts, food and beverage offerings, marigolds, and photos of deceased relatives to honor the dead. A children’s ofrenda and a digital photo essay illustrating different aspects of the celebration are also on display. Text is in English and Spanish. Admission is free.

Creating: Quilts and Crafts of the Lakota (Exhibit)
Time: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: Museum of Anthropology, Wake Forest University

Twenty eye-dazzling quilts and 32 items of apparel and dance regalia made in traditional style by 20th-century Lakota artisans are on display in this exhibit. MOA shares the exhibit with Delta Arts Center, with each venue displaying about half of the quilts and crafts. Visitors should visit both museums for the complete experience. Admission is free.

NAthan Ross Freeman will conduct a 10-Minute Play workshop on Saturday, November 16, from 12 to 2 at Reynolda Manor Library. The event is sponsored by Winston-Salem Writers in conjunction with the annual 10 Minute Play competition.

Free Tennis Lessons for Kids (Community Event)
Time: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Location: Parkland High School

The Kimiberly Park Tennis Club offers free tennis lessons to kids ages 5 to 18. Practices are held at the Parkland High School tennis courts each Saturday at 3pm This is a year long program and winter practices are held at the Wake Forest University Indoor Tennis Center.
