The PAAD Study : Physical Activity and Alzheimer's Disease (Health/Exercise)
Location: UNC Greensboro

UNCG is offering a free 8-month exercise program for people who qualify to take part in aresearch study. Interested individuals must be between 50-65 years of age and have a family history ofAlzheimer’s disease. Holiday Bazaar (Church Event)

New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC will hold a bazaar on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Women's Fellowship is sponsoring the bazaar and proceeds will be used to support many church and community projects. We will have chicken pies ($12.00 each, with a limit of 5), Moravian clothing, baked goods, lots of homemade crafts (including Moravian items), a silent auction, white elephant sale and a snack bar which will serve breakfast and lunch items. Chinese Ceramics from the Changsha Kilns (Exhibit)
Time: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: Museum of Anthropology, Wake Forest University

MOA’s new permanent exhibit provides an overview of the ceramics produced by families at the Changsha Kilns during the Tang Dynasty more than one thousand years ago. The exhibit puts Tang ceramics into their historical, geographic, and cultural context. The Tang Dynasty was a time of peace, prosperity, and acceptance in China, during which Changsha ceramics and other goods were traded to reach as far away as western Asia and Africa. The exhibit features more than 100 spectacular ceramic objects from the MOA’s Lam Collection. Open Tuesday to Saturday. Admission is free.

Life After Death: The Day of the Dead in Mexico (Exhibit)
Time: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: Museum of Anthropology, Wake Forest University

MOA’s annual exhibit includes new information with sections about the celebration’s history and its unique folk art. The centerpiece is a traditional Mexican ofrenda: a home altar with sugar skulls, colorful tissue paper cutouts, food and beverage offerings, marigolds, and photos of deceased relatives to honor the dead. A children’s ofrenda and a digital photo essay illustrating different aspects of the celebration are also on display. Text is in English and Spanish. Admission is free.

Create a Nutcracker craft in the Art Studio from 10 am—1 pm and enjoy a special story time 10:30 am. Watch in wonder as cast members from the University of North Carolina School of the Art’s The Nutcracker perform a short preview of the ballet at 11 am. Then, learn some dance steps, meet & greet University of North Carolina School of the Arts Nutcracker performers and enjoy light refreshments!

Annual Hispanic Youth Scholarship Golf Tournament (Community Recreational Sporting Fund Raising Event)

Join the Hispanic League on Saturday, November 2, for the annual Hispanic Youth Scholarship Golf Tournament at Salem Glenn Golf & Country Club. To participate you can register through our website (www.hispanicleague.org) or through mail, and your fees will include lunch, practice balls, green fees, cart rental, beverage, cart snacks and drinks, and tee gift prizes. Please make sure to register by October 15th if interested. So get your team together and enjoy a day full of swings and smiles. All net proceeds will benefit Hispanic League programs and initiatives.

Golden Triad Show Chorus presents "Two By Two" (Music)

Golden Triad Show Chorus presents “Two By Two”, an all-ages fun musical parody based on the story of Noah’s Ark. Show repertoire includes the popular “We Are Family” a classic hit for Sister Sledge and “Lion Sleeps Tonight” written by Solomon Linda and made famous by the Weavers and the Tokens. Also featured will be Sapphire Quartet, the Heart of Carolinas men’s chorus, and the debut performance of Golden Triad’s own Never Be 4 quartet. The award winning Golden Triad Chorus, a Region 14 member of Sweet Adelines International, sings in four part close harmony in the traditional American barbershop style. Tickets in advance receive a $2 discount. Ticket prices at the door are: adults, $17, seniors and students 12 and up, $14, children 11 and under, $10. Free Tennis Lessons for Kids (Community Event)
Time: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Location: Parkland High School

The Kimiberly Park Tennis Club offers free tennis lessons to kids ages 5 to 18. Practices are held at the Parkland High School tennis courts each Saturday at 3pm This is a year long program and winter practices are held at the Wake Forest University Indoor Tennis Center. Annual BBQ (Community Event)

Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church’s annual BBQ and craft sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, from 4:00-7:00pm. You have the option to eat in or carry out. All you can eat in BBQ is $8.00 and $4.00 for hot dogs. If you chose to carry out, prices are $8.00 for 1 pound BBQ with Slaw, $8.00 for BBQ tray with slaw, beans, and roll, or $4.00 for two hotdogs, chips or beans. Come join us for some of the best BBQ around.
