Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon (Fund Raising Event)

The Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon Saturday, October 20th at 12:30PM to benefit Cancer Services of Forsyth County at Elks Lodge, 2585 Griffith Road, Winston-Salem. The event will include lunch, entertainment, a presentation by Cancer Services and testimony from cancer survivors. Door prizes, raffle, auction. All proceeds go to Cancer Services to support cancer patients in the region. Thank you for supporting this event.

Cops on Top for Special Olympics (Fund Raising Event)

I faxed this info to your station yesterday but wanted to make sure that the community knows about this wonderful event. It's time for our annual Cops on Top event for Special Olympics. It's going to be this Saturday September 22nd from 6:30 - 9pm. For those of you who don't know, this is the event where volunteers sign up to stand on top of the roof at our Chick Fil-a in Kernerersville to help raise money for Special Olympics of NC. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Exhibition "The Vocabulary of Printmaking: Its Origins & Techniques" (Art Installation)

Celebrating the rich tradition of fine art printmaking in its many forms, 5 artists highlight an exceptional array of printmaking techniques. Originally used as a form of communication, printmaking is now valued as an artistic medium with unique qualities. John D. Gall (Jamestown) tells stories with his art, incorporating figures, symbols, & scientific data in surreal ways. Robert Dunning (UNC- Asheville) blends abstract biomorphic forms with figurative imagery using collage, printmaking, drawing, & painting. Julie Niskanen (Raleigh) focuses on the beauty of forms found in nature. David Faber (Wake Forest University) practices printmaking techniques including intaglio, lithography, relief, monotype, & mixed media. "The President is Coming!" U.S. Presidential Visits to Greensboro (Exhibit)

What do Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt and Bill Clinton all have in common? A new display at the Greensboro Historical Museum illustrates that there have been at least eighteen U.S. President's who have stopped in the Gate City. Come visit the lobby display, our preview to the full display that will be on view on August 23, 2012. As always, all exhibitions at the museum are free for visitors.
Dias de los Muertos (Days of the Dead) (Exhibit)

Location: Museum of Anthropology, Wake Forest University
MOA’s annual exhibit features a traditional Mexican ofrenda: a home altar with sugar skulls, colorful tissue paper cutouts, food and beverage offerings, marigolds, and photos of deceased relatives to honor the dead. A children’s ofrenda and photographs illustrating different aspects of the celebration are also on display. This exhibit features text in English and Spanish. Admission is free. Open Tuesday to Saturday.

Free Tennis Lessons for Kids (Community Event)
Time: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Location: Parkland High School
The Kimiberly Park Tennis Club offers free tennis lessons to kids ages 5 to 18. Practices are held at the Parkland High School tennis courts each Saturday at 3pm This is a year long program and winter practices are held at the Wake Forest University Indoor Tennis Center.
